About me

Julia Miles portrait

I have a postgraduate Diploma in Psychodynamic Practice from the University of Oxford. I am MBACP (Accred.) and am registered with UKRCP.

I worked for 25 years both as a qualified social worker which included adoption, disability and generic family work and also as a probation officer. During this time I undertook a person centred counselling course before moving to psychodynamic training.

I have wide experience as an independent counsellor/psychotherapist with a range of clients who have presented with a variety of problems. I have worked as a counsellor in two men’s prisons, in a GP surgery, a psychiatric hospital, a women’s service, a foreign nationals’ counselling service in Greece, and for the Wantage Counselling Service.

I am currently contracted as a counsellor to an organisation specialising in rehabilitating drug and alcohol users.

I work to the BACP ethical standard. I undertake regular supervision and ongoing professional development. I am fully insured.
